Kent grown asparagus and organic arable, Biddenden
At Frogshole Farm the asparagus season generally starts in late April and goes on until mid-June. Most is sold at the shop on site and some to selected restaurants.
Peter Whapham retired from farming last year, but under new ownership the asparagus will continue.
Two fields, having reached the maxium lifespan for asparagus plants, have been cleared and rested ready to replant next year, a necessary process to ensure that the best produce can be grown. The yield will therefore be lower this year (2017) and next than usually produced at Frogshole Farm. Our aim is to build the yield back up to meet demand and also the high standard that Peter always maintained.
The lower yield is reflected in the shop opening days and times: We will provide opening times during the season.
